Educational Psychologist Support to Teachers

Silva Psychology offers regular consultation support to class teachers wishing to monitor/improve their skills and knowledge in supporting the academic and/or social, emotional and behavioural skills of children in their class. It may be that teachers want specific advice re: individual children in their class (in which case consent from parents will need to be obtained) or a group of children in their class (all of whom present with the same concern, e.g. poor reading comprehension; poor listening and attention skills etc).

Silva Psychology also delivers various training workshops to small groups of teachers, appropriate to the year group (or key stage) of the children concerned and needs of the staff requiring the workshop.

Examples of teacher training workshops include:

  • Developing social & emotional understanding in children presenting with social communication difficulties
  • How to run a circle of friends intervention
  • Working with parents to support the development of children’s reading accuracy and reading comprehension
  • Assessing a child’s self esteem/feelings about themselves and class strategies to increase self-esteem or positive feelings
  • Using solution focused thinking to bring about change in learning & behaviour in your classroom.

All teacher training workshops are tailor made to the school’s needs and requests.
